Early Jean - Paul Riopelle has built a strong connection with the Maegth Foundation living long time there working, having fun and laughing like jokes or good words he introduces inside his masterpieces. Two big exhibition in 1970 and 1990 have trabuted him but now for celebrating the 100 years of his birth the Foundation board done this retrospect as a gift to his family. Jean - Paul Riopelle stays out movement or political commitments and his only purpose is moving towards something potent he doesn't know first. Riopelle feels a huge passion for Inuit culture and North of Canada spending a lot of time there constructing with things he finds like wood many canvas like "The Thulé kings" (1973) or "The icebergs" (1977) making also many pictures about primary cultures like in Nanavut (1977). "Jean - Paul Riopelle, workshop perfume" helps us discovering new fawcets of his art like sticking, pastels and lithographies. Some of them should be restaured because at this times artists didn't protect well their work. The Maeght Foundation board wanted to highlight more canvas but the buildings were too small for put it all in and in spite of that the audience discovers again with happiness this artist.
