Supported by the Miro Fundacio (Barcelona) and the Matisse Museum (Nice) the exhibition "Miro Matisse, beyond images" deals with the relationships between the both painters and their works. At first it seems that there is any common points because they come from differents countries (France, Spain), are born in differents areas (north, south) and also belong to different genrations but in spite of that they have succeeded to build a deep dialog. They follow the same purposes : rejecting usual pictures making, find something new in simple things, moving beyond traditionnal painting and introducing art work inside architecture. Matisse et Miro love both Japan culture teaching lines and colors expressiveness and construct a strong link since the 1930's towards their own art production. Matisse chooses among the Miro paintings canvas like the famous "Constellations" and asks to his art dealer son Pierre highlighting them inside his New - York gallery. It will help Miro becoming well known in United - States and having also an influence on expressionnists abstract painters during the 1940's and 1950's. This friendship is celebrated in a famous picture made by Pierre in 1934 in front of a bar where everybody can watch the both artists speaking together about art. The Miro canvas underline poetry, joyfull, drama, colors and this surrealist approach arouses Matisse finding new ways at the end of the 1930's. Miro also improves a huge respect for the fawism leader movement Matisse and the way he has revolutionized colors near the spanish border at Collioures. Women have performed a part inside this friendship. Miro has given gouaches to Jackie the Pierre daughter (1937) or receive at home the Matisse daughter Marguerite (1936). A the other side Matisse draws and gives and dedicates a portrait to Maria Dolorès the Miro's daughter.
