In some cases art can be used as medecine for curing somebody from an uggly childhood. Born in a poor background where alcool and deseases distroy many Fred Deux is confrontated to horrors during world war two. He intagrates underground forces in 1943 and after a unit of goumiers Marrocco soldiers. With this unit he fights again nazis forces in the Vosges and help liberating concentration camps. Traumatizing by what he has sawn during battles and nazi killings Fred Deux works just after in the library directed by his first wife. Among the books he reads André Breton writings about surrealism movement and discovers also Paul Klee masterpieces. This searchs encourage Fred Deux becoming a writer and a drawer discribing his own life dealing with spleen. At the begenning of the 1960's Fred Deux tapes all his memories and will do that during three decades. With the support of his second wife Cécile Reims he uses pencils for doing king size "Self portraits" highlighting strange living things as a kind of the artist other part. These enigmatic drawings end a decade after. The Chave art gallery also print engraving books of Fred Deux and Cécile Reims ("Porcessus", "Memorandum", ...) as love proof of the both with colors puting in.
