Benoît Piéron, Waiting Room

Exhibition at the Villa Arson, 20 Stephen Liégeard avenue, 06105 Nice, daily open (2pm - 6pm) except Tuesdays, admission free.

Benoît Piéron has spent a part of his childhood in curing places and it help him building sensitive work far from the frontiers. Suffering from an uggly disease since his birth he stayed inside Kremlin - Bicêtre hospital where many children receiving blood owning AIDS. Some of them pass away and as survivor Benoît Piérson fells a culpabilty feeling he translates towards several kinds of mediums (papers, installations, pieces of clothes) for talking about the disease. He uses mediums for speaking about illness by highlighting two rooms first the doctors room leaded by a free speech and the second names waiting room. Inside the waiting room the patients must learn alone how resisting against fear for living more. This atmosphere can be find in the "Cairns" installation (picture above) with old cut sheets showing us the hospital cold ponctuated by a resistance involving in pastels colors (blue, yellow, orange, white and pink) meaning life.
